Kris Aquino and the Hacienda Luisita Massacre
Whenever I think of the Hacienda Luisita violence that killed 14 people–mostly farmers and workers–I couldn’t help being reminded of Kris Aquino and the obscene display of her luxurious life on national television.
Kris is a daughter of former President Corazon Cojuangco Aquino, one of the owners of Hacienda Luisita. She loves talking about fashion, clothes, and jewelry and models for a whitening soap, among other products.
While bloghopping, I found Len Olea’s blog. She wrote:
Meanwhile Mong Palatino writes:
“Kris Aquino was wrong when she boasted on national TV that her designer clothes were ‘katas ng Hacienda Luisita.’ Now we witness the hardworking people who produce the wealth of Hacienda Luisita displaying extraordinary force, anger and devotion which only the most oppressed and exploited can ever show.”

And she’s back to hosting a game show offering P1M.

amazing how someone so intelligent could descend to such levels as this.
or maybe her air-conditioner filter just needs some cleaning; she might be inhaling the fumes.

I’m sure she doesn’t sincerely feel for the Hacienda victims. It’s just her show-off as a celebrity. Why? Because obviously, she has misplaced priorities. Her sense of delicadeza has always been obscured by her craving for fame and fortune.
December 2nd, 2004 at 2:21 pm
i used to like her because she seemed intelligent for a showbiz personality. but ever since the phenomenal success of game ka na ba, she has lost all sense of propriety and common sense. what a shame indeed.

December 3rd, 2004 at 9:24 am
hindi ko napanood ang sinabi ni kris na ganon. nakakalungkot naman. i feel bad for the victims of the bloody dispersal. grabe talaga.
December 6th, 2004 at 4:37 pm
I think Kris likes to play is enjoying pretty much the fact that she thinks people know her as a very honest person and therefore can get away with her show of extravagance but because of her continuous blabbering … she forgets to check her statements and then goes…. oops.. did i say that??? she retracts by saying that hacienda luisita is actually losing money and that’s why she’s working hard…etc… etc…
December 9th, 2004 at 3:32 pm
January 6th, 2005 at 7:55 pm
i’m not a fan of kris aquino but i’d just like to give my point…i think she has nothing to do with the management of hacienda luisita…pwede ba tayong mga pinoy…wag na tayo mamuna ng wala sa atin??? the hell i care with all the luxuries she has…leave her kg ganyan sya…the more na kumikita pa nga pag iniintriga…if we have the right to own luxurious things, then so she is…wag na tayo mainggit…peace!!!!!!!!!!!
January 12th, 2005 at 2:36 pm
i can’t believe that these things actually happens in real life I thought that this is only happening in some kind of pocket book story!!!former president aquino and the present president should do something to compensate the poor plantation workers. they should be given the rights to asks for what they need,9.50 pesos every other week is awfully low, how can they even afford to put food on the table for their families? what they do to the strikers are injustice and therefore the arroyo government should do something to punish the culprit!!!
January 12th, 2005 at 2:47 pm
this is in response to the comment made by maricel, seems like you have not about the massacre of the farmers of the hacienda luisita, yes it’s true that kris also has the right to own luxurios things but she and her family should also think about the life of the people who works for them, they pay them way below the minimum wage, why! it seems that its not even enough to feed a single person per day! they are starving to death while kris and her family are bagging about all the luxurious things they that the hacienda produces which is actually the workers expense!

as i study socio-political issues, i came to know about the real story behind hacienda luisita. i feel very sad to know that injustices in our country is very grave. i hope that our government will be very concern about this major issue.
January 26th, 2005 at 7:28 pm
noong napanood ko yung documentary about the lives of the workers in hacienda luisita sa school, i was really saddened…malaman ko na P9.50 lang ang kinikita nila, imagine…P9.50! malakai pa siguro ang nakukuha ng mga nagtatawag ng pasahero sa may cubao eh. it’s really way way below the minimum wage, nakakagulat nga’t nabubuhay pa ang mga manggagawang ito despite the fact that they are doing very laborious work. pls, let us help this people. they really need our help. the government doesn’t really care about their welfare
February 2nd, 2005 at 6:59 pm
……..grabe nman kyo kris hndi n kyo naawa s mga tao bsta lng d mwla ung mga luho mo……..
February 4th, 2005 at 12:53 pm
PEACE…Bkait natin sinisi si Kris?she is working for her luxurious in life, and besides may manager naman ang Hacienda para i manage ang business nila at hindi sila ang nagmamanage and workers have a union to fight for the right of the laborers and laborers are paying the union bakit sa hindi sila nagreklamo pa noon and i dont bilib na 9.50 every other week kasi they have union to deal with their salaries. We dont who is telling the truth, lets just finish this close the hacienda luisita and lets see what happen to Cojuanco family and the laborers kung saan sila pupunta at kung may luho pa at kakainin na masarap ang isat isa.lahat naman may luho ultimong magsosorbetero may cellphone at pati yung nag aararo my cellphone sa bulsa, marami kasing sakit tayong mga filipino we need to discipline ourselves and humble all the time, kahit wala ng makain basta may load ang ceelphone ok na.di ba?
February 8th, 2005 at 1:45 pm
Actually, we’re not blaming Kris Aquino here. We’re not saying it’s her fault that the Haceinda Luisita workers were massacred. We’re not saying she killed the Hacienda Luisita rallyists. We’re just pointing out the irony of seeing Kris on television with all her luxury: gowns, havaiana–did I spell it right?–and all other material things while the poor workers of Hacienda Luisita, which is co-owned by her family, were being killed for protesting against injustice.
February 8th, 2005 at 1:47 pm
By the way, here’s a piece of news from Bulatlat.com ( http://www.bulatlat.com/news/5-1/5-1-plan.html ): 5,000 Luisita Workers To Lose Jobs in Cojuangco-GMA Land Plan
The summary says:
“A land use plan which contains the comprehensive land conversion of the entire Hacienda Luisita into a commercial and industrial complex will likely force more than 5,000 plantation workers out of their jobs. The LUP includes President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyos Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTE).”
Sad news for the Hacienda Luisitia workers.

We understand your concern for the Hacienda Luisita workers. We’re just wondering why you left your contact numbers.
March 4th, 2005 at 9:48 am
Totally disgusting.
March 6th, 2005 at 4:44 pm

March 29th, 2005 at 9:23 am
Kris may be displaying sort of immaturity, immorality, all sort of immm…., but that does not reflect the behaviour and true colour of her parents, uncles and aunties. Cojuangcos are good people. Their hospital is like a welfare. Free doctors, free medicine. Although at first, they charge the employees but eventually, the union would request that the charge be deleted and be forgotten, and the request is usually granted and those union leaders know this. They knew almost everything they request is granted….but as they say, man easily forgets….
March 30th, 2005 at 10:54 am
I don’t think the Hacienda Luisita workers would do what they’ve been doing if “almost everything they request is granted.”

I saw the video how they massacred the farmers.

The Filipinos have earned the reputation of being overseas contract workers par excellence throughout the Globe, which truly makes me proud being one. However, on a similar note, we have also been known for our crab mentality, divisiveness & hard-headedness, which has fertilized to our stagnation as a nation depriving us forever of our country’s long-deserved continued & zenithal success.
Having acquired my own niche out of sheer expertise, hard work & discipline here in Kuwait, I could not but show dismay over such realizations. While we have been praised as a nation of excellent workers which usually gives us an upper hand in terms of foreign employer’s choice of workers such that the latter would rather prefer more Filipino workers than any other foreign expatriates, including offering them higher or better rates compared to the rest, except of course against few others such as the Americans & Britons, we could never be united as a country & thus fail to catapult the majority of the Filipinos towards living a dignified life.
The country is teeming with excellent Filipinos in every respect, as much as it is swarmed with rallyists left & right who could not abandon their false hopes, claims, objectives & pride in favor of the national good; who could never accept defeat in the hands of reality that their most-heralded candidates & bets had not won the presidency or various other posts that they had desired, resorting to all sorts of public protests whether voluntarily or volunteered by their greed for money by using such fora as a means to earn more in exchange of allowing themselves to be used by their financiers who not to anyone’s surprise must be the losing parties or candidates themselves, a case of mutualism, where both aggrieved parties benefit from each other, a case of misery loves company.
Now tell me, how could we ever progress as a nation given such constipated mentality? How could we ever progress as a country given such attitude of spewing lava over lava of angst & pains against whoever wins in a presidential derby or whatever local or national offices, continually if not geometrically at that so long as their bets’ nemesis is or are in power?
We have been known to imitate the Americans in almost every aspect of life, America having been our great ally for several years now, but come to think of it, why couldn’t we imitate the Americans’ attitude of consolidating & rallying behind their leaders after elections have been over?
The Hacienda Luisita case is not just an offshoot of this bad Filipino trait. As a Filipino who have gone abroad to live a dignified life, I could almost feel or even commiserate with the sad plight of the hacienda Luisita workers in Tarlac, but hey, if they are really bent on doing something for their own good, they should not kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. They should realize that if they had the pristine intentions of helping themselves, they should know better that to be able to constantly receive financial blessings, they should not kill or endanger its source, which in their case, must be hacienda Luisita. The late & national hero, Jose Rizal did not resort to outright rebellion but reform, which we could do in all capacity & at our behest in our time given the working democracy we have inherited & currently enjoy after the Marcosian rule & courtesy of ex-president, madam Corazon Aquino who had firmly reinstituted it during her term.
Moreover, I do not agree with most of the Filipinos always blaming the presidency or the big shots over their sad plights or poverty. After all, as Abraham Lincoln once said, “Do not just ask what the country can do for you, but rather, of what you can do for your country”. That is a lesson of empowerment, that we should also do something by ourselves to contribute to the country’s welfare & not deprive the country of such blessings least we shall be guilty of forcing our country to its economic ruin, abyss or comatose.
Why would we always opt for increase given our current wages? The usual reply is that we could not make both ends meet. That is understandable, given the country’s current sad economic plight. Nevertheless, given the worst of times, why even the birds for example, could satisfy their optimum requirements for life amidst the worst of storms & other natural calamities? How about us, human species at that, touted to be the highest forms of animals given our intellect & free will - why couldn’t we live within our earnings? Why couldn’t we live within our means? Why don’t we budget the earnings that we have currently to suit our budget & needs. Or if the money that we have is not enough for our needs, why do we usually take the government or their subsidiaries, including such other private firms who help give the nation hope of recovery, as the culprit instead of blaming if not asking ourselves what had we done with what little blessings that we receive given the difficult times & worst scenarios in life?
Only until we find the right answers to these questions shall we be able to reform ourselves & give the Philippines, the only country I have & we have, its much needed hope. After all, the only thing constant in the world is change, and if only for that, I would never lose hope to see all if not most of us, find our mentality overhauled to give way to unity amidst diversity for the most sought after progress.
As an overseas contract worker, there was never a day that passed by that I never thought of going back home to the Philippines, despite its chaos & antagonistic setting, because it is the only country I have & I’d love to help improve.
While you have been there, you could contribute to its well-being by just simply thinking of the country as a whole, of how others had moved out of the country to earn a living abroad without blaming the Philippines for lack of opportunities offered because in due time, hope springs eternal. Our children, if not grandchildren & their future generations will reap the fruits of our labor. We just have to believe in ourselves, sacrifice a bit if not more & try very hard at emasculating our mentality to give way to changes for the better mindset prerequisite of development! Mabuhay mga kapwa Filipino!!!

Kris is the downfall of the Aquino family. She acts like she’s not from a very prominent family. I think she’s a looser. She may have all the things money can buy but she doesn’t have class. She’s desperate and too immature. After all the episodes of men in her life, she’s now marrying a guy a few years older than her son. I mean Kris marrying James Yap? HaHaHa!!! Sorry Kris Aquino but you’re a looser.
June 20th, 2005 at 1:49 am
A looser keeps getting trapped to pitfalls of one’s life, whereas a winner keeps rising up every after storm, is far driven when the going gets tough. That’s Kris for us, ever ready to rse up toi the next level of standards when evil forces compel her to!!!

why will u blame kris;she works hard for all the luxuries she’s enjoying.and
its her money and she can spend it whatever way she wants.inggit lang kayo!
they are not the sole owners of the hacienda; the entire cojuangco family does.
June 29th, 2005 at 1:54 pm
i don’t disagree about kris being “maarte” and all. but that’s what she is. i mean, if you guys are bothered by her… well, i highly recommend to just mind our own business and GET A LIFE!

July 3rd, 2005 at 4:28 pm
Ikaw ba normal? i mean, who are you to judge naman the son of kris? wag mandamay ng bata, pwede ba, kainis ka talaga ha.
July 4th, 2005 at 12:29 pm
I see Francis Valmoria is a big cojuangco fan so he thinks that greediness is the cause of the strike at hacienda luisita but does he think that no matter how much people would try to make ends meet and budget their money 9.50 a week in pesos just does not go anywhere! why, that can’t even buy a kilo of rice! considering they are not even allowed to plant a vegetable for them to eat at the land! my GOD how on earth can they support the family for that kind of very low salary? think with all your consideration mr. francis! huwag yung porke fan ka ni kris e di ka na makapag-reason justly!
July 12th, 2005 at 7:45 am
July 13th, 2005 at 11:33 am

This is the essence of democracy, to be bombarded with a tremor of opinions before a conclusion is made. At least, each is at liberty to defend his or her views, and that’s what really counts, so very atypical during the Marcos era.
For all we know, eruptive clouds ever ready & willing to cover the eruptive vents of whichever side from this tumultous situation will finally gave way to the truth, the only thing that matters. After all, any shady & deceptive stance from whichever side of the critical equation is bound to fall against the seismic tremors, plate-tectonic revolution & fault-scarp designed by God, the greatest architect of us all, to salvage those of HIS poor children from harm, against those whose intentions reek of hypocrisy & falsehood, trying to hide behind the cloak of abuses or injustices just to thwart the obvious.

i hate kris because i dont think she remembers the time when she was still struggling in showbiz and everybody doesnt want to give her an chance.. except for one movie producer who was forced to make her a movie (maybe because she was still a presidents daughter at that time) she would go to the extremes of kissing commedians in her movie.. its not that i am against it but if you see her now.. she acts as if she is a GOD who cant befriend actors and actresses who are trying their luck in showbusiness.. she would clearly show in front of the camera the lack of interest she has with those nobody BUT she will gladly defend her friends even if its obvious that those “friends” has done something bad.. I remember when Ai ai was still not a big time actress and she guested in Kris and Boy Abunda’s show.. she wont even dare touch ai ai and its as if ai ai has some decease.. but when Boy abunda managed Ms. delas Alas, Kris automatically became friends with Ai ai…
Cory Aquino, her mother, does she deserve some respect? well, maybe because elders deserves some respect.. aside from that… no other reason for us to respect her. First, she proudly shows everyone that she is a devout catholic, her daughter always mention that she is almost sinless.. She is a person with principles… YEAH RIGHT! during her term, almost all her relatives had a position in the government.. some say this is not true but if you check the records, they may not use the last name cojuangco and aquino but Cory has lots of relatives with other surnames.
Did she really saved the philippines fronm the marcoses? the answer is NO! she was the only person “available” at that time to replace the dictator. We also suffered so much from her.. the browouts, the coup d’ etat, peso devaluation, massacres.. And everytime a present government is facing a crisis she would announce a statement that would divide the nation instead of uniting the filipino people..
But how can we expect her to be a good leader when she cant even help the farmers in their hacienda? I live in the US and I downloaded a documentary about the crisis in hacienda luisita.. I cant bear to watch the film..
Mrs. Aquino asked the president to make the supreme sacrifice of resigning.. why cant she make the supreme sacrifice of shutting her mouth and instead solve the problems of her farmers.. Same with Kris, she should make the supreme sacrifice of trying to be a good human being to her fellowmen..
August 6th, 2005 at 5:28 pm
hey guys, guys, keep ur cool! don’t waste such debates where Kris nor Cory wouldn’t even read ur opinions. to whom are you expressing such laments anyway? mas naka kainis kyo kc d na kyo tumigil sa express ng “i hate kris” or “i don’t like kris”… well, u might as well voice ur thoughts directly to her, if you really want her to know ur opinions.
about the hacienda luisita thing, we had a maid who worked temporarily for us during the strike. her family lives inside the hacienda. her husband at first joined the rally but as they will not get an income, he was forced to report back to work so as to earn money. but regardless of this, our maid told us that they were ok there, and the salary of 9.50 per week that you mentioned is way too EXAGGERATED! hello?! the workers there have their own school, hospital, etc. our maid even gave birth caesarian to all her 3 kids for free. those are just some of the benefits that she was able to get for working at the hacienda.
please, before retracting anyone, gather all the facts first… and Kris doesnt give a damn parin naman to all of ur opinions coz she doesnt even know you.
i am no kris fan, in fact, i dont even admire her. but we dont have the right to judge her.

Past is past. Nakaraan na yon and Im sure if Cory or Kris can change history, they will prevent that from happening.Di nila ginusto o kasalanan yon. Kris is a celebrity natural lang na she will look her best on national tv or in the publics eye.Take note she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth TRANSLATION “Pinanganak na mayaman ang lola mo!” all of us are entitled to our own opinion. But to attack people like KRIS OR cory is a big waste of time and effort. Like in my case marami ang naiinggit sa beauty ko.The world is full of insecure and jealous PEOPLE and I understand. Oy kayong mga insecure at mahihirap would you please SHUT UP! aTTENTION mrs.bRUNO! YUN LANG vavuh!!!

and who is this pretentious overseas filipino worker named francis something? he sounds like the typical balkbayan who reeks of philistine triumphalism. He is overly narcissisitic and could not see beyond his so-called achievements. Francis, You are shamelessly illiterate, and i don’t mean fucntional literacy (you seem to have spent so much time writing in English though your style is far from literary), i mean you are ignorant of the structural dimension of human experience. you like to talk about big words like, such is the pinoy, the good life, democracy and stuff. but it seems that you haven’t really read properly. and people like you who have no benefit of sociological insight and social inviestigation whatwsoever would always reserve the right to freedom of expression. yeah, right! sure, you are free to express your stupid thoughts but that also entails betraying your stupidity and illiteracy. I wonder what kind of books you read.let me see, uhmm..coehlo? the purpose driven life? or some such low-life inspirational trash?
i may not be so into activism but given my profession which i shall not disclose, and which has given me the opportunity to study social movements in different societies and how globalization (which the activists rightly calls imperialist) impact on these social movements, i dare say that people like francis should keep his uninformed ideas to himself. and you know what francis, i have proven once again, and through you that arrogance is a function of ignorance. now this francis probably thinks i’m no exception, i’m sounding so arrogant too. well, i have the credentials to be and most of the vile in my comment comes from passion and anger towards people like you-you know what francis, a lot of people think like you do. and it’s the reason why this country is all messed-up.
October 26th, 2005 at 10:39 am
Genely is yet another stupid irritant. But she is definitely more stupid than francis. In fairness, francis bothers to argue. This Genely is braindead. C’mmon man, not all crticism is a product of envy. And besides, why would you advise anybody who musters a critique of the social system to just work hard so that they can afford the luxuries you assume they want to have but can’t? You listen to me, and try hard to understand:
Those who are up against the system of exploitation and oppression are beyond what this system could offer. Did you ever consider that there are people who, for ethical and moral reasons would refuse to sell-out to this system? That means they are beyond the fantasy of making themselves rich because that would just reproduce the system which they are up against? Do you dig that?
and you have the cheek to tell them to just work (”magrabaho na lang kayo”)? What do you do? Are you a call center agent? Or some mediocre student from some school?
You see people, this cyber thing has made so many people think that they are free to express themselves, and that this freedom is absolute. These people should realize that some ideas fundtion to support the dominant system of oppression and exploition, precisely the system that kills farmers, workers and activists. The system that keeps millions of youth out of school is the same system that leaves millions of children around the world malnourished, hungry and unsheltered. That is why I say that nobody should get away with ideas that supprot this criminal system! Criminal ideas like Genely’s and Francis’ must be pinned down and critiqued! And if you don’t agree with me you are wrong. Ha.

Oh and then there is Jhules. I failed to read his hillarious comment. He said: “as far as i know yadadada.”
Jhules dear, you do not know anything about hacienda luisita. before i even tell you to shut up, i advise you to read something about the history of the farmworkers’ struggle at the hacienda. Why would anyone believe Cory when she says that she has got nothing to do with the haciena? This is the same woman who years ago promised that if she were elected president, her first priority would be to implement land reform. What happened? Do you even know, Jhules? I bet you don’t since predictably you’d say, “ano naman pakealam ko dun?” Yeah, people like you are so predictable. And why would anybody believe Kris when she says that she has got nothing to do with the hacienda? I mean, c’mmon what kind of moron would believe in anything Kris Aquino says?
Anyway, I just hate to read comments that are so uninformed, when there are, in fact, available materials in the net that may be read and weighed!
You know what’s funny about Jhule’s comment is that he sounds like a paid hack by the aquinos. I bet he isn’t. That’s what makes him pathetic…a mouthpeice of the elite who doesn’t get anything in return. (the farmers in the hacienda are paid 9.50, but that is not to trivialize their dire condition it’s just to irritate and agitate Jhules hehe ). jhules, don’t you think you deserve some remuneration, i mean , you even go as far as telling people to shut up, wow, you must be something!…a squirrel may be? i mean, the brain of a squirrel, kidding.

October 28th, 2005 at 8:50 am
Jinky anu ba talaga ang problema mo? you spent a lot of time sa website na to.MMMM.. probably isa kang babae na walang social life, walang kaibigan but isang galon ng ice cream sa lap at pilit na iniisip kung ano ang iyong pagkakamali sa iyong buhay at ang tanging escape mo ay ang “magburn” ng mga nagpopost sa site na to. Poor you, you should get a life girl. Use your so called intelligence and lift your butt from that computer chair.
October 28th, 2005 at 9:04 pm
(bobng sell-out!!) kadiri ka!!!
October 28th, 2005 at 10:19 pm
hahaha! that is precisely the kind of reaction i was trying to ellicit, very good maiTa. except that you don’t have to try hard to copy my style by coming up with those uncreative guesses. i can only laugh at the picture you paint of me. a what? an ice cream on my lap? sorry i hate ice cream.
here are some tips for dummies like you:
lesson number 1.
people who can muster a critique of others’ ideas are not necessesarily lacking in/of social life. for how can anybody in this social world be without a social life?
lesson number 2.
you better think twice about those “bitching cliches.” some of them don’t work to score against your target. rather, they just make you sound stupid.
lesson number 3.
that thing about “so-called intelligence” is curious. was there any mention of such intelligence in my post? by the way, you may only use “so-called”to refer to an idea popularly held. (you were probabaly impressed but since you are far from approximating my quality of mind, (and that deep inside you know) you are just half-green in envy.
oh, and what makes you think i’m a girl? hahaha! you don’t have to consider thinking about that. you know what maita, something tells me you are jhules, or that ofw whose name i can not recall anymore, or that other girl who advises people to just work hard and mind their own bussiness. But then again, you might just be another one who belong to that lamentable cohort. my satisfaction lays in my suspicion that it matters to you that i think you are stupid. and you could neither confirm nor deny that since in the last instance, the self is the arbiter of suspicion. and that’s lesson number 4 for you.
lesson number 5.
in the final analysis, you just don’t agree with my ideas. but what is funny is you did not even bother to engage them. instead you indulge yourself in this rather unimaginative character sketch. do you read short stories or novels? you should if you are into that character sketching stuff because as your description stands, you are way below average.
well, just a quick reply to your character sketch: No, i don’t stay the whole day in front of my pc. i do a lot of other stuff. maybe it’s my talent to focus on whatever it is that i’m doing at the moment that makes people think that all i ever do is to work on the matter at hand. and wrting the way i do does not even eat a quarter of my breaktime. i think you have to consider the possibilty that some people can, indeed, write and think fast.
lesson number 5.
and another tip, if you haven’t done any study on stereotypes or have not even read what a stereotype is, then you better give up on using character sketches as your strategy for bitching. you see, i’m saying all these things not to put you down, i want to keep my opponents alive (in a debate, that is-your literal imagination might take that statement the wrong way) because they (my opponents) make me stronger. so if you could only improve on your writing and thinking skills then i would love to engage you! thougt bubble: how long will that improvement take you though? hahaha!
lesson number 6.
and your guess about my non-cyber self is quite bold-not so much for its content but it’s the very idea of surmising how a cyber image might be in real life. You see, people in cyberspace may opt to assume an altogether different personality, cyberculture is actually one effective way of constructing identities other than your non-cyber identity. so why make a one-to-one correspondence between my ideas and my real life lifestyle? oh, i might know the answer to that question! let me see, because your simple-minded? or a simpleton perhaps? hihi, bleed for me.
lesson number 7.
in the final analysis, maita, what is at stake in this tread is the struggle- in the realm of ideas-of that ‘event’ called hacienda luisita. and just to bring this discussion back into its proper and rightful purpose, may i just reiterate and reaffirm the following slogans:
JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS OF STATE VIOLENCE IN HACIENDA LUISITA!
GENUINE AGRARIAN REFORM NOW!
MRS. ARROYO, HOW MANY MASS LEADERS DID YOUR ARMY KILL TODAY?
p.s.
and just who are you rico? you think you flatter me with your idolist sensibility? such slave morality you’ve got. you see, you don’t need to defend me. thanks but no thanks, really.

DI SI KRIS ANG MAY ARI NG HACIENDA. SA MGA NAIINGGIT MAG SHOWBIZ NA LANG KAYO. PEDE KAYO SA REMAKE NA JEKYL AND HYDE , KING KONG O EXORCIST…

November 16th, 2005 at 11:29 am
Maia, was that you who copied and pasted my posts and changed “maia” to “jinky”? Oh my god this so flattering! Ok, since you claim to be in Brown (do you even know where that is?), a university known for specializing in poststructuralism, you have probably encounterd lacanian poststructuralist thought and have traced its freudian origins. Now I wonder why someone who is presumably familiar with these discourses would betray herself like that. In copying and pasting my post and revising the addressee to my name you actually reveal your desire to create a mirror image of me in you. You wish you weren’t as dumb as you are. That is understandable. But why do you have to expose yourself like that? I think I’m beginning to like you. God, you are so furious you couldn’t stop creating posts with just one word for me. Next time, to create more impact, try constructing sentences with those vile words (if you know how, that is). You even bother to say you are not jhules. Bwahahaha! I can see you are not jhules. That jhules isn’t as sick as you are. But don’t get me wrong, your being sick is really amusing.
Just an advise: If it’s true that you are in Brown, (and pigs can fly) then you better catch up on your reading. I sincerely mean that. Are you attending Grossberg’s lecture next week? We might just bump into each other. I mean, not the cyber you and me but a you and a me on a different plane. I hope that that you is not as stupid as this you i’m addressing. Well, that wouldnât really matter since within this space, the non-cyber us are immaterial. You see the stupidity in claiming that you graduated from Columbia and now you are in Brown at the age of 21? That statement of yours is in itself a negation of your claim. What does it matter? You think invoking such merits would make you appear less stupid?

this thread is really interesting i’v learned so much about hacienda luisita and the possible ways by which people talk about the issue. Kaya lang si maia, and this is just an observation, no offense meant, turns this thread into her own issue. parang it is suddenly about her. i think maraming mahalagang points na na-raise si jinky. pero si maia pinepersonal at ginagawan pa niya ng post si jinky na siya ang guamwa confusing tuloy. sana sa susunod kung may galit kayo sa iba, paki e-mail niyo na lang kasi napaka vulgar. And kung babalikan natin yung theme, maia should know that this is not the place to brag about her being in the belly of the beast. i do not think jinky is jealous kung taga diyan ka kung saan man yan. i think she is beyond that. kung binasa natin mabuti ang sinasabi niya from the start, valid naman ang points niya kaso sobrang taray lang, pero at least may point. si maia parang wala namang alam sa issue ng hacienda luisita ginagawa pa nyang tungkol sa kanya ang thread. piercing si jinky kaya bagay pa siya dito, sa “piercing pens” yung maia parang may tama. mukhang jinky is right in suggesting that she is a little bit crazy.
Please enlighten me.

December 6th, 2005 at 4:06 pm
crack her head open and discover that it doesnt have anythin inside at all…not a speck.. I remember she once asked a player, a seventh day adventist woman, of game ka n b why she isn’t wearin any jewelry at all and the woman answered, “Simple life kasi ang way of life ng mga SDAs”. Kris’ reaction? “Ay, di ko kaya ang ganun!” (syempre, with her usual irrititating nasal voice). Reaction dun sa hacienda luisita: well, i havent watched that on tv. Now if Kris really did say that, hindi man lang ba nya nakagat ang dila niya or whatsoever? i mean, hellur?! lives were lost dahil sa pakikipaglaban nila sa makatarungang pagbibigay ng sahod; they fought for a few pesos to be added to their salaries and you hear Kris saying,”Boy, this dress cost me..” (u probbly know the next words)

December 14th, 2005 at 2:47 am
in my opinion judging people by there appearance is inevitable. people shouldnt judge someone just coz of their wealth or their status in life. Kris Aquino maybe a socialite but that doesnt prove that she`s a murderer as some of you perceive. so, i suggest tp gather your sense and just leave her alone… better look at the mirror first and look at your flaws before looking at the others…
January 1st, 2006 at 9:44 pm
I know all of you just aired what you feel. We should not be unfair to others, accusing someone without knowing all of the credible information is very unfair. How are we to judge that quick because the news said this is what is happening. Who are we to judge these people when we do not know how the situation happened. How sure are you that the higher management or the owners know what is really happening in their farm. Airing what you have seen on TV is ok but don’t push too hard. I suggest you make your investigation and do what is necessary to make you all feel alright.
January 6th, 2006 at 12:51 pm
January 7th, 2006 at 10:12 am
Kris Aquino has nothing to do with what is happening at hacienda luisita! She is earning her own living and she does not depend on the money of the hacienda luisita. She is one of the top tax payers of the gountry because of her hardwork.I don’t think she deserve this!

(he wiped out 6 million jews whom he considered worthless - he made soap out of their bones, ginawa niyang punda ng unan ang mga buhok, ginawa niyang guinea pig ang mga bata) kinikilabutan ako sa sinabi mo. you bloody-racist-cow-dung. people like you should be plucked from the skin of the earth, you who have no substance, intellect and compassion is just a waste of space.
kris aquino, the aquino clan and the cojuancos have something to do with the hacienda, why? because they own it. even if they have managers there - THEY STILL OWN IT.

Those who critique kris for her lifestyle are a bunch of hyporcrites who need to look at their own lives instead. You’re treating kris unfairly. i dont know how you people can stand putting the responsibility of what happend in Hacienda Luisita and the country into Kri’s hands. Duh???? She’s a TV host and that is her chosen profession. SHE obviously works hard for the money she gets.
Your assumptions are baseless. If you have a nice car, a fat wallet, or a capitalistic business, you dont have a right to post things against her. Look in the mirror to see the person who cast stones without even trying to help out urselves. I think Kris has the right to live just like any citizen in this country would. The country’s problem is the government and the elite’s problem… not just hers.

DAPAT MUNA SIGURONG PAGBIGYAN NILA ANG PAMAMAHAGI NG LUPAIN PARA SA MGA MAHIHIRAP NA MAGSASAKA BAGO SILA MAG-RALLY AT MAGSALITANG IPINAGLALABAN NILA ANG DEMOKRASYA NG PILIPINAS. NASAAN ANG KREDIBILIDAD NG MGA IPOKRITANG MGA ITO? SI CORY BA AY MAY NAGAWANG MAGANDA PARA SA PILIPINAS NOONG SIYA’Y PRESIDENTE? WALA! KAYA HUWAG SIYANG MAGMALINIS! PURO PA SIYA “PRAY THE ROSARY” KAYA DI NAKIKINIG ANG LANGIT SA KANYA - DAHIL SA MGA KUNG SINU-SINONG SANTO AT ROSARIO ANG KANYANG DINADASALAN. HINDI KASI SIYA DUMIRETSO SA DIYOS MAGDASAL AT HUWAG SA MGA KUNG ANU-ANONG BAGAY.

may pinatay na naman na myembro ng union sa hacienda luisita. kelan kaya bibigyan ng gobyerno ng wakas ang injustice? hello, somebody has to do something right!
May 12th, 2006 at 1:59 pm
Let’s just hope and pray that everything will be alright for both sides. Please let’s not assume that kris is not concern or helping the workers/laborers, We don’t know if she’s doing her own little way to help them without telling it in the national television. People deserves to be respected eventhough their poor or rich. To the family of Kris, God Bless and to the hacienda luisita workers God is not sleeping. Let’s pray that you will be able to smile, forgive and hope again. Instead of blaming them(cojuanco family) let just think how we can also help atleast in our own little way.
Sorry, but I’m not against to anybodys comment that’s you guys own opinion. Let’s just respect each other. Smile doesn’t cost you a thing.
Kris, God Bless you and your family.

Wow. Love this blogsite. Very entertaining for a Flip like me who feels so alienated and alone here in Kyle, Texas.
OT - Very intelligent ang comments ni Jinky - laughing out loud-rolling off the floor (LOLROF) ang effect sa akin. At the same time, it makes me so proud of the fact that Filipinos have great minds - basket case nga lang ang bottom line of the economic status of the Philippines. How come, sa galing ng mga Filipinos, when it comes to intellectualism and rationale, palpak naman ang results for everybody in the pot. We even end up fighting each other in this blog about who is smarter.
What if: Gloria Mac-Arroyo is the commander in chief, in charge of the military. If military men did the killings in the Hacienda, was it somehow sanctioned by the commander to give the Aquino owners a very bad name and to make the owners stinky in the eyes of the Filipinos?

philippines the worlds second dengerouse country to live: this is what nearly 50% of the people living around the globe said this days about the philippines, our country is number one in the worls curruption, and we are in the second list in morder and killing inocient people..the reason???its always because of our goverment offecials because if they have done something to make our system right and try to figured out how give and how to make a plan on our workers then this will not be happend, what happened to the hacienda luiceta is another proff the philippines is a hopeless country unless our goverment and our fellow filipino people wont do anything about it…yes not only the goverment but the filipino people as well, the goverment cant do it alone with out the help of the filipino people, if we want changes in our country the try to make changes too,we must try to start change our self for good and for better before we seek for others changes, theres a lot of reason why there are alot of rich and poor people in philippines…millions of reason…but one thing i can assure you,it is not only because of our goverment but also because of us and our attitude,we filipino have alot of habits that we need to get rid off,and for god sake we cant change our country by blaming each other…so pls…

well kung 9.50 lng ang earning nila per week, dahil rin kasi yan sa mga utang nila…. it’s not that they were tasked to work under the heat of the sun the whole week and paid for only 9.50…. that;s not even enough for their cellphone load….
anyway as for kris, well now she’s working and she’s the highest paid actress in our country after beating Sharon, so she has the right boast the luxury of her lifestyle…
at saka let’s leave the cojuangco’s… let them enjoy their good life kasi nung spanish era nagpaka-alipin na naman sila sa mga spaniards eh… hahah

A FAN OF KRIS
>
> I never liked Kris Aquino. But I never disliked her either.
> I feel indifferent where she’s concerned, until recently.
>
> You see, I have this 14-year-old niece who, only God knows
> why, is a die-hard Kris Aquino fan. Case in point, her name
> starts with a “G”, but she wears a necklace with a “K” pendant.
>
> Also, she tells her friends that she’s really an adopted child
> and that her real Mother is former president Cory Aquino.
> Crazy kid.
>
> And of course, like any other fan, she buys stuff Kris endorses
> -
> bags, fragrances, jewelry, everything! So, when the family
> (meaning my brothers, my sisters, the whole immediate clan)
> learned of this “cute” idiosyncrasy, we were supportive.
> Kunsintidor, even.
>
> My sister-in-law, who used to play bit parts in movies, (she is
> really pretty, by the way), arranged for us to get seats at
> the taping of Kris’ show, ‘Game Ka Na Ba?’ Needless to say,
> my
> niece was thrilled.
>
> So, yesterday, a Wednesday, taping for the ‘Game Ka Na Ba
> Celebrity’ edition episode, my niece and I, together with her
> sister and some of my friends, went to ABS CBN to watch the
> absurdly (in)famous Kris Aquino.
>
> Anyhow, I was happy to see my nieces really excited; especially
>
> since the younger one just got out of the hospital because of
> Dengue, plus the fact that I rarely see them since they stay
> in
> the province. They were chatting away endlessly in the cab on
> way to the studio about how they would embrace Kris when
> they see her; that they’re sure she smells nice; that their
> friends
> back in Nueva Ecija would just die with envy when they see the
> pictures; that James Yap is the luckiest guy ever; that Josh
> must
> be spoiled with Kris’ love; that she’s just perfect; and so on.
>
> They both looked really pretty, too - new clothes, neat hair,
> clean nails, and with “just the right jewelry”. They said they
> didn’t want Kris to think they’re from a “bad family”.
> They wanted to impress her.
>
> We were at the audience entrance by 4pm, and were fetched
> right away by one of the ABS CBN people (VIP, di ba?).
> Unfortunately, kids weren’t allowed to sit with the audience so
> my nieces were given “special” seats near Kris’ dressing room,
> where they got a better view of the show that was taking
> place.
>
> Me? I was clapping with the audience in step with the ‘Game
> Ka Na Ba?’ theme. Itchyworms was guest band so it was not
> that bad.
>
> And so, after being subjected to clapping till my hands hurt,
> I was advised that I could then take a picture of my nieces
> with Kris. It was 7:30pm. Despite the long wait, my nieces
> were really excited and they were smiling from ear to ear.
>
> I could see that Kris, for some reason, was not thrilled at all
> with the picture-taking thing. I was hoping though that she
> would pretend delight for my nieces’ sake - after all they’re
> kids who adore her!
>
> But as I was about to take the picture, she said, “That’s not
> a nice angle, pa-vertical mas maganda.” I adjusted my camera,
>
> but realized they were standing against the light. So, I shifted
> to the original horizontal angle.
>
> “Vertical sabi, eh!” she said in her shrilly, irritating voice.
> I bit my lip and shut my mouth because I wanted to the
> take the picture for my niece. So, I angled the camera
> vertically as she said, but placed the camera lower,
> angling it in a way that the light behind her head won’t
> be captured.
>
> “Not like that,” she shouted. “Up. Move it up! UP!!!” motioning
> for me to move the camera up, so the picture would be
> taken top-view. Then she actually grabbed my arm and
> pushed upward!
>
> The nerve of that woman to treat me like that!!!
> I wanted to slap her and say, “What the fuck for?
> You look like the same slut whatever angle it may be!”
>
> Instead I said, levelly, “You’re against the light, Kris,
> I can’t take the shot that way.”
>
> “Eh, may flash naman yan, di ba?” she retorted in her
> shrilly, nasal, voice.
>
> I wanted to spit on her overly made-up face right there
> and then! For someone who pretends she’s smart, that
> was a really stupid remark!
>
> With dripping sarcasm, I said, “Exactly, over-exposed yan.
> Move a little, please.”
>
> She did so but impatiently and crossly, almost knocking my
> niece over. I took the picture and she smiled right on cue,
> then she fled.
>
> My younger niece, who I thought was oblivious to the tension,
> didn’t pose with her sister and shouted, almost tearfully,
> “ANG SUNGIT MO NAMAN, KRIS!”
>
> My heart almost broke. I wanted to kill Kris.
>
> Then I looked at my other niece, the one who swore would
> change her family name to Aquino one day, and saw that her
> eyes were downcast.
> She looked like she was trying really hard not to cry.
> Then she said quietly, “Ang pangit pala ng ugali nun.”
>
> I checked the digital picture that I took. Kris’ smile was
> flawless,
> without a trace of the monstrosity she just displayed. And the
> kid
> beside her, my niece, looked like she just realized that she was
>
> having her picture taken with a two-faced monster.
>
> “Baka she’s tired lang, Gelline,” I told my niece.
>
> “Kahit na! Kame nga galing pa ng Nueva Ecija tapos di
> pa kame dinner, naghintay kame para lang sa picture,
> tapos binastos ka pa niya!
> SALBAHE SIYA!” she replied, clearly bitter and sulking.
>
> You know what’s the worst thing about this whole scene?
> It’s the fact that I’m sure Kris doesn’t know and couldn’t
> care any less that she just hurt two loving kids who did
> nothing wrong except chose her as their “idol”.
>
> And it’s inexplicable how Kris can get away with her
> unacceptable manner: she’s tactless, she’s an advocate
> of gossip and scandal, and she’s an epitome of a woman
> with loose morals.
>
> Kris makes me sick.
>
> Clearly, this proves the legends wrong. Monsters don’t lurk
> inside the closet. They’re on TV.
>
> Do me a favor…please forward these letter to all your mailing

> It will be greatly appreciated if you pass it ASAP!!!

you should pity the fugly bitch, she actually became insane because her father got killed by her very own relatives, because ninoy planned to go through with the land reform program for hacienda luisita. just dont mind her and she’ll go away for good.
